Shell Building, London

One of London's famous landmarks, the 28 floor Shell building is undergoing a renovation to bring its 1960's interior up to date. This includes the modernisation of the lift system which was struggling to cope with the population of the building.

Phase 1 was the installation of Schindler ID destination control over the existing lift system which immediately brought significant efficiency increases to the system. This efficiency increase allows three lifts to be taken out of service at a time for modernisation work without causing any reduction in service. When the work is complete and all lifts are back in service, the full benefit of the efficiency increases will be noticeable to the inhabitants of the building as they travel between floors without delay.
