Royal Liver Building
Moving its 2500 inhabitants around the Royal Liver Building is no mean feat. Originally installed in 1911 and updated in the 1970s, the 20th century lift system could no longer cope with the 21st century demands.
Following a review of the vertical transportation systems in 2005 the Liver's building management team elected to install the world's leading destination control system, Schindler ID. Schindler ID has allowed the Royal Liver Building to meet its current needs whilst retaining the flexibility to adapt to any changes that the future may hold. Security is a major consideration today and the unique Schindler ID system provides the building with a level of access control to compliment the existing system.
As well as added security, Schindler ID significantly increases the efficiency of the system. For the main 6 car group of lifts the worst up peak waiting times have reduced from over a minute to 15 - 20 seconds. This is due to the fact that the controller knows which floor each passenger wishes to travel to before they are assigned a lift, increasing efficiency without the need for larger cars or additional lifts.
